Doctor of Nursing Practice: Nurse Practitioner

Program Description:

The Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AC PNP) program prepares experienced pediatric nurses to meet the specialized physiologic and psychological needs of infants through young adults with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions.

The Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) program prepares graduates to function as primary care NPs with adults across the lifespan, from adolescent to older adult. Advanced practice nurses educated and certified in the adult-gerontology population are educated and certified across both areas of practice.

The Neonatal NP (NNP) program prepares experienced neonatal nurses to comprehensively care for high-risk infants from birth through the first year of life. Content is inclusive from promotion of wellness to management of acute and chronic illness in a variety of settings.

The Psychiatric - Mental Health NP (PMHNP) develops knowledge and skills in the behavioral and biological disciplines and applies their learning to the treatment of psychiatric disorders within individuals, families and groups.

NP programs may be completed as Post-Graduate Certificates.

The Rush University College of Nursing was re-accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) in 2009. The College was accredited for ten years through 2019, the maximum granted by CCNE.
