The advent of recombinant DNA technology has catapulted the biotechnology industry to the forefront of biology career opportunities. In the medical sciences, gene therapy and immunotherapy have played a major role in the fight against hereditary diseases and cancer. In agriculture, biotechnology has created a multitude of plants resistant to to diseases and drought.
