Program Description:
The study of political theory involves reflection on the nature and ends of government, including the principles underlying government practice and deliberation on how government ought to function. Political theory also involves a systematic study of the history of political thought, including coursework focusing on philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Locke, and Adam Smith. The Political Theory concentration provides a significant foundation for students interested in pursuing further scholarship and research opportunities.
