Program Description:

The European Master in Bioethics offers a post-academic, complementary education in health care ethics with an effective and condensed learning trajectory.  Particular attention is given to European traditions in philosophy, theology and ethics. The program encompasses a wider theoretical perspective than the analytical, applied ethics approach that is dominant in the Anglo-Saxon tradition. The education is based on the research in health care ethics as carried out by the participating departments and institutes. In addition to these theoretical perspectives, the program has a strong interdisciplinary character, and the ethical reflection is directed towards specific areas. Attention is focused on the clinical and practical health care settings in which ethical issues arise. The European Master in Bioethics program will familiarize participants with important traditions in health care ethics, and with major contemporary movements as well as the conceptual, methodological and practical issues in different areas of health care ethics.
