Program Description:

This programme for clinicians, senior nurses and allied health professionals working in Critical Care Medicine, is intended to provide participants with a thorough grounding in the discipline, together with the tools to maintain their knowledge base, through a course of advanced, specialist instruction. The programme is designed to ensure that course participants acquire the theoretical understanding and skills to advance and promote knowledge in the specialty and develop their leadership skills. Accordingly students will be carefully selected to ensure that they are able to meet the high academic standards required to successfully complete the course. This MSc programme provides the opportunity to obtain a higher degree through general study at a high level, rather than by undertaking a specific research project. For progression to the MSc, candidates must have demonstrated satisfactory performance in the Postgraduate Diploma Course and be working in a Critical Care Unit where they are acquiring the necessary practical experience of critical care as applied to their profession.

This programme aims to:

provide advanced theoretical and practical teaching covering a broad range of key topics related to the management of the critically ill or injured patient
