Program Description:

Description
This course is designed for middle to senior-level health professionals working, or planning to work, in developing and transitional countries. Participants are typically drawn from health ministries and the NGO sector

Structure
The programme is modular and can be studied on a full-time or part-time basis. Studying full-time, you will normally undertake three modules in semester one (one of which is a double module) and four modules in semester two, and complete a dissertation, project or research proposal (MSc only). Whilst each semester is 15 weeks long, many of the courses are taught in shorter blocks to facilitate specialist study. The part-time route is more flexible. You can also register as an associate student to study single modules in areas of interest.

- Introduction to social development and international health
- Health systems development and management
- Health-related research
- Research design and planning (held in semester two)

Three from the following elective modules:
- Project design and management
- Gender, health and development
- Policy and practice in complex emergencies
- Population and reproductive health
- Participatory appraisal and evaluation
- Psychosocial intervention with war-affected populations, displaced persons and refugees
- Independent study
- HIV and development
