Program Description:

The Krannert Doctoral Programs offer the opportunity to work closely with first-rate faculty in the areas of Economics, Management, and Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management (OBHR). The Economics program offers a wide variety of potential specialty areas, including Macro/Monetary Economics, Public Economics, Industrial Organization, Experimental, Mathematical Economics, Labor Economics, and International Economics. In addition, there is a new specialty area in Applied International Economics that involves working with the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP). The OBHR Ph.D. program provides students a blend of organizational behavior and human resource coursework. A characteristic of the Ph.D. Program in Management is the variety of concentration areas available to students. The management doctoral program allows specialization in the following areas: Accounting Finance Management Information Systems Marketing Operations Management Quantitative Methods/Management Science Strategic Management Academic and professional development at the doctoral level is distinct from undergraduate and MBA education. While course work is an important component of your learning process, much of your learning takes place outside classroom time in self-directed study and in interactions with other students and faculty. Ultimately a successful graduate student must make the transition from acquiring knowledge to creating knowledge. During this learning process, the faculty serve not only as mentors but also as colleagues. They are very interested in fostering an environment where you can receive the best education available.

International Student Requirements:

The Test of English as a Foreign Language, or the TOEFL, must be taken by applicants whose native language is not English. The official score report for the TOEFL should be sent from Educational Testing Services (ETS) to Purdue University. Minimum TOEFL iBT Scores for admission are as follows: Writing: 18 Speaking: 18 Listening: 14 Reading: 19 Total: 77 Purdue University also accepts International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores. An overall score of 6.5 is required for admission. The Test of Written English (TWE) and the Test of Spoken English (TSE) are not a requirement for either admission or standard financial aid packages, including assistantships and fellowships. However, the TSE is required to be considered for awards that are based on teaching potential if an applicant's native language is not English.
