Program Information
Degree Offered
Self-Designed master's programs may be completed with inclusion of PATH studies, Personal Approaches to Transformation and Healing
Format: Campus
Program Description:
Plymouth State University's Personal Approaches to Transformation and Healing (PATH) Institute is a graduate certificate program that can also be applied to a self-designed master's degree or CAGS program. You'll focus on alternative health and healing modalities and you'll have experiential, academic opportunities to study integrative health and healing concepts. Based on the growing awareness of mind, body and spirit interactions in holistic healing and wellness, this program builds on the movement that influenced Congress to establish the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine within the National Institutes of Health.
Courses take place during three-day residential seminars and examine concepts of health that consider the whole person: physical, environmental, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual. You'll investigate the differences between healing and curing and the interface of alternative and conventional approaches to health and healing. In a safe and healing environment surrounded by the natural world, you'll participate in dynamic exchange of student perspectives and collaborate on individual and small group exercises and projects.
Completion of the PATH Institute does not require admission into PSU's College of Graduate Studies; if, however, you want to combine your PATH studies with a master's degree or CAGS, you will need to submit an application for admittance consideration.
Accreditation:
Plymouth State University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
Eligibility Requirements:
You do not need to apply to the College of Graduate Studies for participation in the PATH Institute. If you choose to apply your PATH credits to a self-designed master's degree or Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies, then you will need to complete the entire application process.
International Student Requirements:
International PATH students must have proof of English level proficiency through either the TOEFL, IELTS, or ELS Level 112 scores.
In addition, you must provide an I-134 Affidavit of Financial Support Form. Documents, including bank statements and other financial documents dated within the past 30 days, that confirm you have the financial resources to study for a year at Plymouth State must be submitted to the College of Graduate Studies.
You must also include a copy of your valid passport with your application materials.
Finally, you must also submit official, notarized transcripts, verifying that you've completed at least a baccalaureate degree, which must be translated into English and evaluated for institutional equivalency.
