Program Description:
Plymouth State University's Master of Science in Science Education program is designed to promote science learning for teachers through the use of innovative teaching methods and authentic assessment strategies. (If you do not already hold teaching certification, PSU also offers a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Science Education.)
Your curriculum consists of a series of core courses focusing specifically on science teaching methodologies, a capstone research project, and then twenty credits of individualized science content courses which may be completed through courses and institutes in biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, biotechnology, Earth systems, or physical sciences. This program of study follows standards set by the National Science Education Standards and the National Science Teachers Association Standards for Science Teaching Preparation.
At Plymouth State, you'll expand your knowledge of best practices and current issues in science teaching, experience enhanced laboratory and field opportunities, and learn how to develop classroom-based research strategies to promote the improvement of existing science teaching practices.
