Program Description:
Plymouth State University's Master of Education in Mathematics Education will prepare you for a successful career as a certified middle or high school mathematics teacher. This program emphasizes current thinking in the specific field of mathematics education and general secondary education.
This graduate program gives students like you in-depth mathematical knowledge, an opportunity to broaden teaching strategies and techniques, and encourages coursework pertinent to teaching assignments. You'll select one of two certification options: 5-8 Mathematics Education, or 7-12 Mathematics Education. Middle school teachers may select either program, as both are appropriate.
Your curriculum will consist of four core courses required of every PSU Master of Education candidate; six learning theory courses, focusing on specific mathematics education principles, assessment, and instruction; and, finally, a capstone component at the end of your studies in which you'll put theory into practice through either an internship or practicum experience.

This program is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
Eligibility Requirements:
Either the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or the GRE is required for admittance into this program.
International Student Requirements:
International Mathematics Education students must have proof of English level proficiency through either the TOEFL, IELTS, or ELS Level 112 scores.
In addition, you must provide an I-134 Affidavit of Financial Support Form. Documents, including bank statements and other financial documents dated within the past 30 days, that confirm you have the financial resources to study for a year at Plymouth State must be submitted to the College of Graduate Studies.
You must also include a copy of your valid passport with your application materials.
Finally, you must also submit official, notarized transcripts, verifying that you've completed at least a baccalaureate degree, which must be translated into English and evaluated for institutional equivalency.
