Successful achievement of this certification assures employers that you have met the national standards for health education professionals.
Your curriculum will consist of three core classes required of every PSU master of education student, three courses focusing on learning theory; several courses and seminars focusing on health education, ranging from nutrition to substance abuse to sexuality and consumer health; and a capstone component to be completed at the culmination of your studies, where you'll put theory into practice in either a practicum or internship experience.
You must already hold a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences or a liberal arts degree with a concentration in the sciences, health education, physical education, or nursing to be admitted to this graduate program. College-level coursework or the equivalent competencies are required in areas such as exercise theory, CPR, environmental issues in health and disease, first aid, drug behavior, sex and family living education, and anatomy and physiology (with labs).
