Program Description:

Plymouth State University's Master of Education in Elementary Education with K-8 certification will prepare you to become a classroom teacher in kindergarten through eighth grade settings. As an elementary education teacher, it's necessary to possess a broad range of knowledge on a variety of subjects ranging from the arts to math to social studies.
At PSU you'll gain foundational knowledge, relevant learning theory, and classroom management strategies that you need to succeed as a teacher. Your curriculum will consist of a core component of classes required by every PSU Master of Education student, five classes focusing on learning theory, and eight courses preparing you for the interdisciplinary nature of elementary education. You'll study science methods, math methods, integrated arts, reading and writing methods, wellness, and technology integration methods. A capstone component comes at the end of your studies and allows you to put theory into practice in the form of either an education internship or a graduate practicum experience.
