Master of Education in Educational Leadership, Special Education Administrator , Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Educational Leadership, K-12 Special Education Administrator concentration; Professional certification as a K-12 Special Education Administrator

Format: Campus

Program Description:

Plymouth State University's master's programs in educational leadership are designed to prepare educators for a variety of leadership and administrative opportunities in public and private school settings. A concentration in special education administration will prepare you for a career in which you help schools establish a vision for the future and translate that vision into achievable goals. You'll develop and assess curricula and programs that address individual or group needs and are consistent with sound learning theory. A special education administrator must also be able to understand the impact of law on policy development, decision-making, student and staff rights, and inclusionary practices.
At Plymouth State, you'll work with experienced faculty, creating and examining cost-effective budgets, exploring best practices in organizational communication, and learning how to create partnerships between the school and community.
The curriculum consists of four master's core classes, four educational leadership courses, a special education component, and a capstone experience at the culmination of your studies in which you'll put theory into practice in a practicum setting.
If you have at least three years of teaching experience and previous certification as a K-12 General Special Educator, you'll be eligible to apply for certification as a special education administrator upon completion of your program.
