Program Description:

Plymouth State University's Master of Arts in Teaching, Art Education is designed for individuals making a change into the art education field or for students whose undergraduate degree is in art and want to become a certified educator. In this program you'll explore teaching methods for studio arts and visual arts education; create a professional portfolio of work; participate in a student teaching experience; and advance your understanding of art evaluation, relevant safety procedures, and curriculum development.
Your curriculum consists of three core courses required of every PSU master's student; two courses focusing directly on learning theory, classroom intervention, and special education strategies; nine credits of art courses; and an internship experience in art education.

This program is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Eligibility Requirements:

Official score report from the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is required for admission to this program.

International Student Requirements:

International MAT Art Education students must have proof of English level proficiency through either the TOEFL, IELTS, or ELS Level 112 scores. In addition, you must provide an I-134 Affidavit of Financial Support Form. Documents, including bank statements and other financial documents dated within the past 30 days, that confirm you have the financial resources to study for a year at Plymouth State must be submitted to the College of Graduate Studies. You must also include a copy of your valid passport with your application materials. Finally, you must also submit official, notarized transcripts, verifying that you've completed at least a baccalaureate degree, which must be translated into English and evaluated for institutional equivalency.
