Program Description:
The Picower Institute for Medical Research is chartered, in accordance with the Regents of the University of the State of New York, to offer a Ph.D. degree program in molecular medicine to exceptionally qualified recent medical school graduates. This three-year program integrates clinical and laboratory research, and seeks to provide a detailed understanding of the mechanisms underlying human disease, with the aim of applying this knowledge to the development of new diagnostics and therapeutics. The doctoral program emphasizes closely mentored laboratory training and encourages independent thinking and novel approaches in the formulation and execution of scientific experiments. Only two to four candidates are selected each year, so each is assured individual attention and broad faculty support. This ensures a superior caliber of graduate research training in molecular medicine.
