Degree Offered

Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Practices

Format: Online

Program Description:

The Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Practices is an ideal choice if you are a working
professional seeking to build your knowledge base and credentials in the field of sustainable design,
engineering and the built environment. For architects, designers, engineers and builders with an
undergraduate degree, the program is composed of four 3-credit graduate-level courses, each totaling
45 hours of instruction, in a variety of electronic formats. The online courses are identical to
those taught in the full-time MS in Sustainable Design Program and students may apply to enter the
full-time program and transfer all 12 credits. Students will receive instruction via live interactive
presentations over the internet, video recordings of professionally delivered lectures, real-time
interactive chat rooms, asynchronous threaded discussions, and email and phone conversations.
The certificate is built upon the success and experience of Philadelphia University’s M.S. in
Sustainable Design Program, established in 2007. It recently received the United States Green
Building Council’s award for Educational Excellence.
