Program Description:

The Oxford Master of Research in Psychology is a unique programme jointly run and taught by the Oxford Brookes University Department of Psychology and the University of Oxford Department of Experimental Psychology. It offers a general training in research methods in order to enable graduates in psychology or related disciplines to develop the essential skills to become a competent investigator. The MRes is a suitable programme for those who plan to go on to a doctorate, for those who would like to work as research assistants, or for professionals wishing to develop their own research in relevant areas.
Research at Oxford Brookes enjoys an international reputation, attracting high quality staff and students and helping to generate major funding for projects. Research is fundamental to all the postgraduate programmes in Psychology. All members of the department are research active and we encourage you to become involved in our areas of research. We have considerable expertise in many aspects of psychology including developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, congnitive neuropsychology and qualitative methods.
The department has a dedicated subject librarian who can offer in-depth knowledge and training on the wide range of electronic and paper resources and give advice on searching tips. As an Oxford Brookes postgraduate psychology student you will also have access to Oxford University's Bodleian Library. The department also has a specialist postgraduate laboratory for studies involving high-density EEG and ERP and a purpose-built video observation laboratory complete with one-way mirrors and remotely controlled cameras.

If your first language is not English, we will require proof that you have a sufficient command of the English language: GCSE or O'Level English Language or a TOEFL score of at least 600, 100iBT or an IELTS score of 7.0.
