Program Description:

The Master of Arts in Education is a minimum 36 semester credit hour program (with the exception of the Professional Development concentration, which is a 30 semester credit hour program offered to educators with five or more years teaching experience; and Special Education, which is a 45 semester credit hour program offered to educators; and School Psychology, which is a minimum of 60 credit hours). Additionally, graduate level courses may be applicable toward an advanced post master's program such as the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Community College Counseling, Early Childhood, Education Leadership, Education Intervention, School Guidance Counseling, Special Education Cross-Categorical, and School Psychology. Ottawa University's Master of Arts in Education program is designed to help you acquire subject matter mastery, apply knowledge and conduct research in various areas within the field of education. The program of study consists of foundation (including a Master's Research Project), concentration and elective courses (in some programs). There is a Teacher Certification/Graduate Track option as well. If you hold a baccalaureate or advanced degree from an accredited university and would like to become certified to teach in Arizona schools, Ottawa University offers a teacher certification program for you. This program is designed to meet the requirements set forth by the Arizona Department of Education for public school teaching. The Teacher Certification Program provides the necessary training, coursework and expertise needed to acquire a teaching certificate in elementary education (grades K-8) or secondary education (grades 7-12). The program of study prepares the candidate for successful completion of the state prescribed pre-certification performance tests and a successful career as a certified teacher.
