Program Description:
Environmental Engineering Graduate Program
Graduate degrees (MS, MEng, PhD) in environmental engineering are expected to be approved for the 2009-2010 academic year. Until approved, environmental engineering graduate students will receive degrees in Chemical Engineering.
Graduate studies in environmental engineering at Oregon State University emphasize the understanding of fundamental scientific and engineering principles to manage and solve environmental problems in natural and engineering systems. The instructional program is designed to develop strong analytical, design, and management capabilities in the application of biological, chemical and physical processes. Students are prepared for careers in consulting and design, environmental monitoring and management, or teaching and research. Research focuses on hazardous substances, environmental microbiology, fundamentals of transport processes in the environment, environmental chemistry, and groundwater and surface water resources.
The program is within the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering. Students with interests in environmental or water resources engineering may elect degrees in the following areas:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering
M.S. or Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering
MEng, Chemical Engineering. The MEng degree provides students with the option of obtaining a master's-level degree, but without the research component requirement associated with the traditional master of science degree (MS).
