Program Description:

The graduate programs of the department provide preparation for research and practice of industrial and systemsengineering. Areas of specialized study and research within the department include systems analysis and design,including production and manufacturing systems; manufacturing processes, especially net shape and related support processes and CAD/CAM; human factors engineering, including cognitive engineering (cognitive modeling,human-computer interaction, expert systems, and human error) and biomechanics (cumulative trauma and lifting injuries); operations research, including scheduling, systems simulation, optimization and mathematicalprogramming, and decision theory and economic analysis; and strategic planning.
