Program Description:

Our Master of Science in Nursing, Adult Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) program prepares advanced practice nurses to provide care for adult, older adult, and frail elder clients in a variety of settings. The curriculum focuses on culturally-sensitive care, incorporating health promotion and management of acute and chronic health problems. Advanced nursing principles are drawn from concepts in nursing and the biological and social sciences. You will learn to apply theory, advanced practice nursing principles, and the research process to the design and delivery of primary care. Graduates of the Adult/GNP program are prepared to take the Adult Nurse Practitioner national certification examination and/or the Gerontological Nurse Practitioner national certification examination.
The Master of Science in Nursing, Adult Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) easily seques into our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.
We also offer a Post-Master's certificate in Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (Adult/GNP), which prepares advanced practice nurses as a primary care providers for adult, older adult, and frail elder clients in a variety of settings. The curriculum focuses on culturally sensitive care, incorporating health promotion and management of acute and chronic health problems. As a graduate, you will be prepared to apply nursing theory, principles of advanced practice nursing, and the research process in the design and delivery of primary care. Knowledge for advanced nursing practice is synthesized from concepts in nursing, as well as, the biological and social sciences. Upon completion of the Adult/GNP program, you will be prepared to take an Adult Nurse Practitioner national certification examination and/or a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner national certification examination. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
