Program Description:
The Law and Social Science Program is an interdisciplinary program that capitalizes on the growing intellectual and policy significance of law, both domestically and internationally, and advances the use of social science in the study of legal processes and legal institutions. The program provides graduate students with an opportunity to earn a certificate in Law and Social Science, awarded separately from their academic degree. The program brings together the research staff of the American Bar Foundation, which is the preeminent institute for the empirical study of law in the United States, with the students and faculty of The Graduate School and the Law School. The American BarFoundation and the Law School regularly host leading national and international scholars who speak about projects involving a variety of social science disciplines and law and legal issues, and coordinate conferences and seminars on areas related to law and social science.
