Program Description:
The Department of Communication Studies focuses on three areas of advanced study in communication: rhetoric, interpersonal communication, and mass communication/telecommunications. The area of Rhetorical Inquiry employs historical, critical, analytic, and speculative modes of scholarship to study the theory and practice of public communication, debate, and decision making. Interpersonal Communication employs empirical research methods to analyze communication among individuals and group. The third area, Mass Communication/Telecommunications, combines qualitative and quantitative research methods to analyze the operation and impact of mass communication and telecommunication systems.
