Program Description:
The Guidance & Counseling program trains graduate students in the developmental approach to school counseling and in one of its derivatives, the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program. Using a developmental approach, the program focuses on the three primary functions of the modern school counselor: consultation, coordination, and counseling.
Thre are 12 additional hours of coursework for candidates who do not hold a teaching degree.

Northwest is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Northwest has been an AQIP institution since 2005, and served as a pilot institution in the development of AQIP in the late 1990s.
