Program Information
Degree Offered
MS - Mechanical Engineering, PhD - Mechanical Engineering
Program Description:
Mechanical engineering involves designing ways to transmit the energy that powers the modern world. Our master's and doctoral programs offer concentrations in materials science and engineering, mechanics and design, or thermofluids engineering, with an eye toward a career in developing new technologies like energy conversion, solar energy, and environmental control.
The department offers graduate programs in Mechanical Engineering leading to the MS and PhD. At the MS level students may pursue a program preparing for advanced practice or for MS thesis research. All full-time MS students are required to complete a thesis while part-time students may elect a non-thesis option. All course work must have the approval of the academic advisor. All PhD students must first pass the Doctoral Qualifying Examinations before being admitted to Doctoral Candidacy.
