Program Description:
The Department of Computer Science offers programs leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Students who obtain an M.S. degree in computer science are qualified to do significant development work in the computer industry or in information technology. Those who receive a doctoral degree are in a position to hold faculty appointments and do research and development work at the cutting edge of this rapidly changing and expanding field. The department also offers a Master of Science program in information systems with an emphasis on the use of computer systems in the business world, in collaboration with the Stern School of Business, as well as a Master of Science program in scientific computing, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics of the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. The M.S. program in scientific computing is designed to provide broad training in areas related to large-scale computation in the mathematical, physical, and biological sciences.
