Program Information

Degree Offered

M.S., Ph.D.

Format: Campus

Program Description:

Areas of specialization for doctoral candidates are telecommunications-signal processing, microelectronic devices, systems theory, electromagnetic theory, electro-optics and laser applications, electric power systems, computer vision, and computer engineering. Research in the above areas currently being conducted by the faculty and doctoral candidates ensures that the present and new doctoral candidates will work on the frontier of the knowledge in these areas. There is an Electric Utility Management Program leading to the Master of Science degree that prepares the student for a managerial position in the electric utility industry. This program emphasizes power systems analysis and management. Students desiring to work toward an advanced degree in electrical engineering must have completed undergraduate preparation substantially equivalent to that required for the Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering at this institution or must have other adequate background as will be determined by the graduate faculty of the school. The graduate program is intended to provide broad basic training in power systems, network theory, microelectronics, electromagnetic theory, control systems, telecommunications-signal processing, computer engineering, and electro-optics and its application. Appropriate courses in computer science, mathematics, and physics will be accepted as part of a graduate student's program. Prerequisites and co-requisites may not be listed for some graduate courses since programs are prepared on an individual basis.
