Program Description:
The department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering offers graduate study leading to Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Areas of specialization for either of degree include thermal sciences (thermodynamics and heat transfer), applied mechanics (dynamics, vibrations, robotics, and solid and fluid mechanics), dynamical systems, biomechanics, mechatronics, material science, composites, engineering analysis (applied mathematics), and computational mechanics.
The doctoral program is designed with results from the qualifying exam and consideration of the area of specialization.
International Student Requirements:
International applicants submitting foreign post-secondary level transcripts are required to have their credentials evaluated by a recognized member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). NMSU requires a comprehensive course by course evaluation. In addition, international students must submit an English language proficiency exam (either TOEFL or IELTS.)
