Program Description:

The major aim of graduate preparation in Special Education at New Jersey City University is to prepare qualified and competent educators capable of meeting the instructional needs of children with physical, cognitive, behavioral and specific learning disabilities. The MA is a 42 credit degree for students holding a New Jersey Department of Education "Teacher of the Handicapped" or "Teacher of Students with Disabilities" certification. The MAT is a 42 credit degree which includes 27 credits required for Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification. The Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Certification Program is for holders of an MA in Special Education (or in an allied field), with three years of successful teaching experience under a standard teaching certificate.
