Course Information
The MA in Musicology degree offers

The course is convened by Dr Lorraine
Byrne Bodley. The Department’s staff
includes specialists across a broad range
of musicological disciplines including:
ethnomusicology, reception history,
performance practice, music in Ireland,
interdisciplinary studies, music and text,
analysis and contemporary music.

Career Options
Further academic study, and a wide range
of employments in business and the
humanities benefiting from the discursive,
analytical and technical skills developed
at Master’s level, including teaching,
music administration and librarianship.

Course Structure
The programme features modules
providing a strong foundation in research
methodology, specialist tutorials in staff
research areas, classes in advanced

series, which is integral to the programme,
provides an opportunity to hear guest
lectures by visiting musicologists and
