MA-Humanities
Format: Campus
Program Description:
The Master's in Humanities is a 31-unit interdisciplinary program. It includes courses from four separate disciplines - English, history, creative writing, and cultural studies - and it will give you the choice of either concentrating your course work in one of these areas or spreading your courses among all four. Whichever choice you make, you will also take interdisciplinary core courses constructed around the three themes of the program: The Individual, The Community, and The World. These courses deal with problems and issues that spill out beyond the boundaries of a single discipline. They may be timeless problems like the meaning of life and death, or issues of contemporary urgency like sustainability, environmental health, and the costs of war. All courses are offered in our innovative weekend format. Writers and educators are attracted to the program, as are inidividuals working in non-profits for social change.
