Program Description:

The Master of Science in Management (MSM) for Interior Architecture at Mount Ida College is a comprehensive program geared toward interior design practitioners who want to expand their management knowledge while advancing their design skills.

The degree requires a minimum of 36 credits culminating in a thesis-exhibition or thesis, which is normally comprised of a major design work. This could be universal design, technological issues, sustainable/environmental design, design management, lighting design, historic preservation, construction or another area of interest to the student that is approved
by the student’s thesis adviser.

Convenient Schedule:
The two-year, part-time program is designed for working professionals, with courses offered in the evenings and on weekends. Classes are taught in a hybrid format that combines online and on-campus/studio coursework.

Interdisciplinary Curriculum:
The interdisciplinary curriculum combines business and marketing coursework that provides design professionals with enhanced technological and creative skills that can differentiate them in a competitive industry. Emphasis is placed on basic
concentration competence, research and theory, relevant technology, leadership and information literacy.

Sustainability:
Social responsibility and sustainability are incorporated throughout the curriculum. Through design studios, lectures and coursework, students will have the ability to identify and implement sustainable practices and universal design standards in the built environment.

Technology:
Graduates will also be prepared to utilize cutting-edge technologies to solve today’s complex design challenges. Much of the work produced in the program makes use of sophisticated computer programs including Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
