Bioinformatics is an exciting and challenging new scientific discipline that has emerged from the integration of the life sciences with special fields of biology, medical technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, artificial intelligence, and information technology. There is a tremendous demand for individuals with the information being produced by the genome sequencing projects and the need to harness this for medical diagnosis and therapeutic uses, and other bioindustrial applications.
