Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor
Program Description:
The Department of Counseling, Human Development and Educational Leadership at Montclair State University offers courses designed to fulfill the educational requirements set by the Addiction Professionals Certification Board of New Jersey (APCBNJ) for CADC eligibility. Each course provides 45 domain credits, as well as graduate or undergraduate college credits. The courses may be taken for certification purposes only or they may be part of a Master's degree program.
REQUIREMENTS
Students who successfully complete the Masters in Counseling program with a CADC focus will fulfill the total educational clock hours (270) required by the APCBNJ. After completing the coursework at MSU for a Masters degree, students must obtain 2,000 hours of documented supervised alcohol/drug experience. If students complete coursework for certification only, upon graduation they must complete 4,000 hours of documented supervised alcohol/drug counseling experience.
