Program Description:

Montana Tech offers three areas of study in General Engineering: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Welding Engineering.

• Civil Engineering concentration focuses on the structural engineering, geotechnical, and
water hydraulics and hydrology fields of civil engineering.
• Mechanical Engineering includes mechanical power and machines, energy studies, and
concurrent engineering.
• Welding Engineering focuses on a rigorous study of code application, procedure qualification and testing, repair welding, and welding metallurgy.

The General Engineering department is the largest engineering department at Montana Tech. Graduates are highly sought after from industry and demand excellent starting salaries. Alumni currently hold positions that range from design engineer to engineering manager to corporate CEO. Graduates work in a wide range of industries including energy production, manufacturing, aerospace, construction, robotics and research.

International Student Requirements:

International students are required to submit TOEFL scores of at least 71 iBT, 195 CBT, or 525 PBT or IELTS of 6.0. An International Statement of Financial Support must show at least $23,000 USD. It is the responsibility of the applicant to have foreign transcripts evaluated on a course-by-course basis by Educational Credentials Evaluators, Inc (ECE) to determine Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. The equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor's degree must also have been achieved. A copy of the report must be sent to Montana Tech's Graduate Office by ECE.
