The MA in Anthropology focuses on providing students with the training and conceptual skills necessary to pursue careers in anthropology, archaeology, cultural resource management, social policy, teaching, community engagement, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
The program emphasizes professionalization and research experience by offering students unique opportunities to conduct ethnographic fieldwork within local institutions and/or actively participate in archaeological excavation, mapping, and analysis. Our students are also well equipped for further graduate education in anthropology.
Courses are taught by engaging, highly respected faculty members with active research agendas. The program has particular strengths in the archaeology and cultural anthropology of the Americas, especially ethnographic fieldwork in Latin America, archaeological and ethnohistorical research on the Inca Empire and Spanish Colonialism, issues of urbanization, and the interpretation of landscapes.

Eligibility Requirements:
Possesion of a baccalaureate deegree from an accredited college or University with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Essay (500 words) highlighting personal and/or professional goals and objectives for wanting to pursue graduate study in the field of anthropology.
Two professional letters of recommendation from persons familiar with the prospective student's academic and/or professional competence.

International Student Requirements:
Applicants whose native language is not English must take the TOEFL. There are three versions of the TOEFL: computer-based, paper-based, and Internet-based. Requirements are: a minimum of 550 on the paper-based TOEFL; 213 on the computer-based test; and 79 on the Internet-based test. For test locations please visit www.toefl.org.
