Program Description:
At the graduate level, we offer four accredited programs currently preparing over 100 students for a variety of careers in the helping professions. We offer a 48-51 semester hour Master of Education in School Counseling program and a 66 semester hour Education Specialist in Counseling program should you desire to prepare primarily for work in a school setting. Both of these programs are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and lead toward respective certifications as a School Counselor. The Master of Education in School Counseling is also accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Related Educational Programs (CACREP)as are the two other programs we offer: the 60 semester hour Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling program should you desire to prepare for a career in the field of mental health, and the 60 semester hour Master of Science in Marriage and Family Counseling should you desire to prepare for a career in the field of family issues. These programs are designed to lead toward eventual licensure as a Professional Counselor, or toward doctoral study in Psychology or Counseling.
