Program Information
Degree Offered
M.S. - Engineering
Format: Campus
Program Description:
There is a growing demand for engineering professionals who are capable of applying combined engineering disciplines. Traditionally, graduate education in the United States has focused on creating specialists û people who can advance the frontiers of knowledge in a narrow field. However, the best solutions to technical problems increasingly fall outside the confines of any one discipline. Some of the greatest advances in engineering yet to come will be the result of cross-disciplinary application of technology. Too often, the lack of a solid background in management has prevented engineers from rising to decision-making positions. Critics of American business have described the resulting lack of a technological perspective as contributing to short-range thinking, lack of respect for the needs of technology in the marketplace and loss of whole technologies to foreign competition.
