Program Description:

The Nursing Education program is designed to prepare nurses interested in teaching in diploma, associate and baccalaureate degree programs, as well as staff development positions in hospitals, long-term care facilities, community centers, and other settings. Through a mix of web-enhanced and completely on-line courses, the program serves part-time students that find it difficult because of work and family responsibilities to commit to full-time study. The nursing education option is designed for the student who desires to pursue a career as a nurse educator. Graduates are prepared to teach in nursing education programs or health care agencies. Completion of the program requires 35 theory hours and 126 clinical hours. Upon completion of the MSN, nursing education option, graduates are eligible to take the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) examination administered by the National League for Nursing.

Eligibility Requirements:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited (N.L.N.A.C. or C.C.N.E.) school of nursing. Undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0. Satisfactory completion of an undergraduate statistics course and a research course in nursing. Satisfactory completion of an undergraduate health assessment course. Licensure as a registered nurse in Pennsylvania or in the state where clinical practice or internship is to be arranged. Minimum of one year of clinical experience in nursing.
