Program Description:
The aim of the program in developmental is to educate doctoral level research scientists and scholars who are knowledgeable in developmental theory and research methods. They also will be prepared to do research in a variety of settings and to teach developmental psychology. Emphases of the program include: Systemic models of biobehavioral organization Quantitative and qualitative research methods Cultural variation in development Individual differences in development across the life span History of psychology and philosophy of science Students majoring in developmental psychology take courses dealing with theories of development, research/ statistical methods, chronological segments of the life span (infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood/ aging), and a variety of seminars on specific topics. A student's particular program is developed in consultation with faculty members comprising the student's guidance committee.
