Program Description:

In the Molecular Biophysics track, students conduct research in the study of protein structure and function, enzyme mechanisms in metal-containing proteins, the design of new antimicrobial peptides, the study of how biological membranes function, and the investigation of the pathophysiological consequences of biological free radical formation. In the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) track, students conduct research projects centered on the development and application of MRI techniques. Faculty specialties include functional neuroimaging and brain mapping, MRI in pathological conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease, drug addition and cancer, statistical analysis of MRI data and molecular imaging, and the development of fast imaging methods.
