Program Description:

The MCW Center for the Study of Bioethics has been a pioneer in bioethics and research ethics education and remains a leader in these fields with a proven record of excellence. The Center offers a Maser of Arts in Bioethics degree program. The MA program can be completed through either a traditional curriculum or through an executive-style curriculum. The traditional curriculum offers on-campus students small class sizes and access to diverse clinical experiences on the campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center. The executive-style curriculum has a proven record of excellence and innovation in distance education. In addition to online coursework, distance-learning students participate in a two-week summer intensive session on campus.
Certificate-Clinical Bioethics
Gain an essential introduction to the philosophical, legal, and clinical foundations of bioethics with the Certificate in Clinical Bioethics program. This program consists of four courses (12 credits) that are offered online.
Certificate-Research Ethics
Build an understanding of human subjects, research regulations and their historical foundations, and explore current topics in research ethics through the Certificate in Research Ethics program. This program consists of four courses (12 credits) that are offered online.
Certificate-AMA & Bioethics
Physicians wishing to expand their background and knowledge of medical ethics and physician professionalism without leaving their clinical life behind should consider pursuing this program. Since 2003, the Institute for Ethics at the American Medical Association (AMA) and the MCW Center for the Study of Bioethics have been offering the AMA-MCW Online Fellowship in Physician Ethics and Professionalism.
