Program Information

Degree Offered

M.S.- Biotechnology

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The M.S. Biotechnology program prepares students for careers in broad fields related to biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, health care, and many others. This is a "Professional Science Masters" (PSM) Biotechnology program; courses include modern genomics, bioinformatics, proteomics but also MBA courses. A PSM program such as our M.S. Biotechnology offering allows graduates to work in a lab, but also as managers, directors, leaders - giving the graduates a breadth of career opportunities. M.S. Biotechnology recipients are also attractive candidates for medical, veterinary or dental schools.

The M.S. Biotechnology program is composed of two basic curriculum tracks, depending upon point of entry. Marywood University undergraduates in their junior or senior years can apply for admission into the program and enter our five year B.S./M.S. curriculum. Applicants who already possess a B.S. or a B.A. in the life sciences can enter the two year, standalone M.S. track. The graduate component is essentially identical for both tracks, and neither track requires a written thesis.
