Program Description:

Marymount University now offers a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration and Policy that is ideal for the working criminal justice professional seeking advancement, including:

* those currently working in a criminal justice agency, in search of a position in criminal justice management
* criminal justice agency managers who wish to advance within the organization
* those who now work in the industry and wish to teach criminal justice.

If any of these describe you, Marymount's program may be the ideal choice to help you reach your goals. MU is located in Arlington, Virginia, near the exceptional resources of our nation's capital.

This program is designed with an emphasis on administration and policy in the criminal justice arena. By promoting an integrated, academically rigorous, and empirically oriented curriculum, the program helps working criminal justice professionals develop the repertoire of professional skills necessary to better manage their current positions, assume leadership roles, and/or continue doctoral training in criminal justice.

Marymount faculty members hold degrees in a variety of fields, including law, justice, society, sociology, public policy, and administration. Moreover, a number of full- and part-time instructors have had extensive backgrounds in law enforcement, as well as judicial and research agencies. Our full-time professors, all of whom hold terminal degrees, routinely publish in academic and professional journals and present scholarly papers at national and international conferences.

Marymount University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s degrees.

Eligibility Requirements:

In addition to the University requirements for admission to graduate programs, applicants must provide the following:
* official transcripts from all post-secondary education with an acceptable GPA
* satisfactory scores on the GRE or GMAT score (requirement is waived if applicant has already earned a graduate degree)
* evidence of two years work experience in the criminal justice field
* two letters of recommendation
* a writing sample, minimum 500 words, describing his/her background, motivation for seeking the degree, area of interest for the thesis, and postgraduate plans.
