Program Information
Degree Offered
M.S. - Mechanical and Industrial Engineering; M.S. - Materials Science and Engineering
Program Description:
"A concentration in materials science and engineering allows students to explore a range of materials-related issues, including the electrical behavior of materials, materials processing, and mechanical behavior of materials. Thus, students are provided with a fundamental understanding of the relation between processing, structure, and properties of materials. This concentration places heavy emphasis on experimental research. Students are introduced to the process of independent research, with a focus on enabling students to become independent researchers. Active areas of faculty research include: soldering in electronics, rapid solidification, diamond films, catalytic materials, crystal growth, phase transformations, AC electrical behavior of materials, and biomaterials."
