The Master of Arts in Music Degree with a specialty in Choral Conducting is designed to attract highly motivated choral conductors, who desire to further their education and professional careers through intensive study. The program provides masters degree candidates with experiences directly related to careers as choral conductors in the fields of music education, church music, or in preparation for further graduate study. Students study a wide variety of choral literature from the Renaissance period through the 20th-century, including multicultural music and vocal jazz. They work directly with the top choral ensembles reviewing rehearsal techniques, warm-ups, vocal pedagogy, and score study. In addition to a curriculum tailored to choral conducting, the graduate assistant will gain experience outside the typical rehearsal through active participation in the preparation, organization, performance, and follow-up in many choral related activities.
