Program Information

Degree Offered

Master of Arts in International Communication

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The MA in International Communication focuses on a wide range of skills-related electives (both theoretical and practical) within the contexts of international communication.

The program focuses on global and local contexts in which messages are constructed by institutions and read by audiences. It examines how the agendas of 'globalisation' and 'localisation' are negotiated by policy makers and media in the development of policies, communication strategies, programs and messages.

It also looks at the role of intercultural competency, media skills and strategies in empowering individuals in local, international and other arenas.

Teaching strengths: Units are taught by industry professionals and academics, with a broad range of experience in diplomacy, international media and broadcasting.
Intercultural understanding: "It doesn't matter what company I work for, there will always be international customers. My class on Intercultural Communication is teaching me how to work with and respect different nationalities."
