Ph.D.-Integrated Program in Biomedical Science

Program Description:

This unique program provides students with greater opportunities to explore educational and research laboratory options prior to making a career decision. Students enter with no formal commitment to any advanced program or research laboratory, and they may choose from any mentor among the graduate faculty at LUMC for first-year laboratory rotations and ultimately for their dissertation mentor.

After completing the first year, which includes the core curriculum, three required laboratory rotations, and participation in journal clubs, seminars, research information sessions, department/program overview sessions, and coursework as determined by the student in consultation with the Program Director for the Integrated Program, students specialize in their interest area by selecting one program out of the seven existing Ph.D. programs. Once the student decides on a course of study, the requirements of the specific program must be fully satisfied.
