Program Description:

The school technology specialist program prepares graduates to provide leadership, instructional materials, and support services to K-12 educational institutions in the use of technology to achieve their educational goals. This specialization covers how to integrate technology, explore ethical issues pertaining to the use of technology in schools and learn how to plan for implementation of technology programs within an educational setting. The program curriculum covers the knowledge and skills that are required from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Content Standards for the Technology Specialist certificate. The program, which is accredited by ISBE, concentrates on the development, evaluation and application of emerging technology to enhance the learning process for students, teachers, administrators, parents and the school board. Candidates will have the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the unique technological needs of the school system in which he/she will eventually be employed.
