Program Description:
This Master of Science in Nursing program prepares professional nurses to assume leadership roles at an advanced practice nurses who will be effective in assisting people across their lifespan to promote, maintain and regain an optimal level of health. Graduates are prepared for independent and collaborative decision making in physical and psychosocial assessment, health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic health problems in families. Emphasis is given to care of families in vulnerable populations.
The nurse-practitioner role focuses on diagnosis, treatment and the management of common acute conditions and stable chronic conditions in a primary care setting. It also includes a strong emphasis on wellness and prevention.
